Last week, I had the privilege of attending a thought-provoking play called "Mood" by Andri Luup. The play delves into the dark side of the fashion industry, exposing the exploitation and environmental destruction that lie behind the glamour.
As an Estonian who loves theatre, I was captivated by the performance. The three young models who had left the fashion industry shared their raw experiences, shedding light on the harsh realities they faced. The five parallel characters representing different aspects of the industry further emphasized the urgency of change.
What struck me most was the honesty and urgency of the message. The play echoed a sentiment I heard last year at the Future of Fashion event in Düsseldorf: big brands talk about sustainability but do little to change.
I believe it's time to stop talking and start acting. We need to educate the younger generation and everyone else in society about the true cost of fast fashion.
That's why I'm committed to using my skills and experience to make a difference. I'm passionate about organizing events and educating people about sustainable fashion.
I'm also excited to attend the conferences in November to connect with more industry leaders and learn from their expertise. Together, we can create a more sustainable and ethical future for fashion.
Here are some key takeaways from the play:
The fashion industry is responsible for significant environmental damage.
Many models are exploited and mistreated.
We need to move towards a more sustainable and ethical fashion industry.
What can we do to make a difference?
Educate ourselves and others about the true cost of fast fashion.
Support sustainable brands and designers.
Reduce our consumption of clothing.
Choose quality over quantity.
Repair and repurpose clothing instead of throwing it away.
Let's work together to create a better future for fashion!
