A seemingly ordinary event – the grammar school's annual fashion show – became my passion for event planning and my commitment to empowering young fashion designers.
Disappointed by the execution of the 2017 fashion show, I joked to my classmates, "If I don't organize it next year, this event is going to be an embarrassment for our school."
This sparked a determination to make a change. Together with two classmates, we approached the headmistress with our vision for the show. Despite not being active members of the student union, our passion and enthusiasm convinced her to entrust us with the task.
The 2018 fashion show became our canvas to create an unforgettable experience. We meticulously planned every aspect, from the theme and venue to the makeup, lighting, marketing, entertainment, judges, tickets, sponsors, prizes, cafe, designers, and volunteers.
Our hard work paid off. Tickets sold out within two weeks, and over 1,400 attendees transformed our grammar school into a vibrant hub of fashion, glamour, and entertainment. We broke away from traditional expectations, prioritizing the interests and desires of our fellow students, and the event became the talk of the town.
The following year, I took on the challenge of organizing the fashion show solo. With the unwavering support of five incredible volunteers, we surpassed all expectations yet again. The show was a sell-out, and we even organized an unforgettable after-party with the city's top schools, further cementing the event's reputation as the most sought-after happening in town.
My dedication to the fashion show and my passion for the industry didn't go unnoticed. I was invited to judge fashion shows at various schools across the city, my blog about judging gained significant attention, and I became a sought-after partner for events and brand collaborations. I coordinated Tallinn Fashion Week's volunteers for the 3rd season and secured a place at a prestigious university abroad.
Despite my current success in the UK, my most cherished accomplishment remains the grammar school fashion show I organized in 2018-2019. It was the spark that ignited my passion for event planning, my unwavering belief in the power of young talent, and my commitment to providing aspiring fashion designers with platforms to showcase their creativity and pursue their dreams.
My journey serves as a testament to the transformative power of passion, determination, and the belief in one's ability to make a difference. It's a reminder that even the smallest spark can ignite a journey that shapes our lives and the lives of others. Embrace your passions, pursue your dreams with unwavering determination, and never underestimate the impact you can make on the world around you.
