We've all been there.
You pour your heart and soul into an event, and even though it raises money, sparks joy, and seemingly goes off without a hitch, a nagging voice whispers: "You could've done better."
As a Brand Marketer specializing in impactful events, I recently organized a Charity Gala for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. Hitting our fundraising target and seeing happy faces should've been enough, right? Wrong. Imposter syndrome reared its ugly head.
Why the Doubt?
Here's the gremlin's internal monologue:
Lower Attendance: We didn't fill all the seats.
Volunteer Shortfall: Helping hands were scarce on the day.
Livestream Lag: Viewer numbers fell short of expectations.
The Success We Forget:
Despite the "gremlin's" negativity, the event was a success for the Trust! But self-doubt clouded my judgment. Should I have been a marketing whiz, attracting a bigger crowd with innovative strategies? Should I have relied less on volunteers (bless them!) and more on seasoned professionals? And let's be honest, relying solely on friendly faces isn't a long-term attendance strategy.
The Lesson Learned:
There's always room for improvement. This experience was a valuable teacher. Next time, I'll aim higher and push myself to new creative heights.
